Inspiration

I’ve chosen two artists that I have admired for a while online – I follow them both on Instagram and I see their art circulating on other platforms as well. I admire both of these artists’ styles and I always come back to their work even if they haven’t been actively posting for a while, just because they resonate that strongly with me.

Gretel Lusky

Gretel is an illustrator I’ve followed on Instagram for multiple years now. I’ve looked up to her use of colors specifically in traditional art. She’s a beautiful example of what I aspire to have my colors look like on paper, and I also generally like her art style. I struggle with using wet media on paper, but just looking at her works makes me want to try again sometime – just to be able to make my art look like that.

Elentori

Elentori’s art has been inspiring to me ever since I saw her first piece – her art is almost exactly the style I want to have. I love how she shades. I love how all her art has a strong atmosphere just because of how well she utilizes color and the brushes she’s working with. When you look at her profile, it’s easy to forget that a lot of it is fanart if you’re not familiar with the media – which is also a good reminder that fanart can be just as good as original pieces. Her approach hits just right for me.
